Clark Beaumont is an artistic duo from Brisbane, made up of Nicole Beaumont (born 1990, Sydney) and Sarah Clarke (born 1991, Brisbane). They began their collaborative practice in 2010, through live performance works as well as mediated works. Their work is focused aound ideas relating to female's subjectivity, the creation of identity, intimacy and personal relationships.
Their current work at MUMA is titled Coexisting, where the girls have to stand and/or sit on a plinth that's slightly too small for two people to fit on comfortably.
Personally I'm really fond of this work. I think it's a very cleverly simple way of presenting a loaded and complex concept, and I hope art critics catch onto it, so that it is featured in as many publications as possible. I think it's quite an important step in the art world, as well as in feminist communities. It's also quite a funny artwork to encounter at firs, walking into two girls on a plinth - but once you think about it a little more you realize just how serious the artwork is.
